What would cause my 1999 Ford Taurus to sputter?
Buying a new car isn’t an option! My husband already changed the spark plugs and wires. I know it’s not the gas because it’s been going on for a while and I have used premium grade gas and gas treatment. Check engine light is NOT on. It sputters when idle or when I am driving slow, not as much when I am at 55mph. Please help!

Could be a number of things; coil pack, injectors, a sensor somewhere. Best thing to do is put it on a engine anaylzer that monitors spark, emissions, etc. for proper diagnosis.
Engine idle speed might be too low.
deffinately is a coil problem its a noted issue with ford cars the coils start going bad and will not always pop a code wut happens is when its idling or driving at low speeds the voltage and current of electricity sent to the coils to make the plugs fire is low and with a bad coil the power would be week but once you get up to speed such as 55 mikes per hour the motor being sped up will send i faster power speed and higher voltage from the power control moduel ( computer) to the coil forcing it to fire. this could go on for quite a while before ever kicking a code but eventualy will. so give it a shot. good luck
