I've owned 93, 94, 95 & 97 Tauruses. What I've learned from them: If you keep them maintained there's not really a better car out there for dependability. I've driven all my tauri over 100,000 miles with no problems. The 96 is a steal at $1000. They usually retail aroun $2000-$3000.
Besides your dad is there to help you keep the maintainence up on it.

See my previous answer….no, no no I would not buy it…you will definitely have maintenance issues in the next 20,000 miles.

I have a 97 and it is still chugging along with very few problems at 150K.
