Could be a bad oil pressure sending unit also…verify the actual pressure with a mechanical gauge. Some cars have a safety feature that prevents engine starting with low oil pressure. Check oil level and change oil if it’s old. Could be a pump going out or worn bearings but not likely on a 2004 model.
the oil light always comes on with the ign. switch in the accesory position. it should go off after the car starts. this is telling you the light works if it is not started.
the oil light on durring start up is normal the trouble with starting is your real issue it may be that you have too low voltage or amprage from you battery so have that checked if it is not that it is probably just a starter.
low oil or oil pump thats bad
contaminated old oil does it, as does worn oil pumps and blocked filters. Install a mechanical gauge to get reliable proper readings, oil pressure will drop as first sign of overheating motor.
