Any locksmithb can make a key for it but they have to scan your key to see what resistor it has then order the key. After the key comes in you will have to go back and get it cut. Due to the price of these key blanks and the hassle. youre better off to have a dealership cut the key. They will have the keys in stock and and are only about $5-$10 more than a locksmith.

Most locksmiths can make transponder (chip) keys nowdays. They are definitely NOT dealer only. Locksmith does not need to match your 'resistor', that technology hasn't been used in a long time, and NEVER by Ford. The key does have to be programmed into the car's computer with a programming tool which locksmiths DO have.

As for cost, I get $55 cut and programmed for a duplicate.

If you have two working keys you can program more keys to the car by yourself. If you only have one key you have to go to the dealer or locksmith.
