Tryin to turn my 1987 Ford Taurus wagon into a Ghostbusters car. Is it possible to get a higher output amp?
Right now my car has a 100 watt alternator, is it possible to get a 200+ watt alternator for my type of car and/or can i use a higher output alternator from a 90's taurus wagon?

Also if you cannot get enough power out of one alternator you can add a second alternator. It will take some fabrication for the brackets to make it work. Of course you will need to make sure you have enough room for the alternator itself.
I think you mean a higher amp out put from the alternator. The answer is yes. You need to replace the alternator with one that is designed to have a higher output. A alternator rebuild shop should be able to help. Also Ford did have a Police package taurus that had a higher output alternator with the 3.8 V6 engine. If you have the 3.8 V6 it will just slip right in where the standard one fits. Have a nice day!
