My check engine light is on do to my catalyic converter because a so called mechanic removed it without my knowledge. Now my transaxle light is flashing. What could be wrong with my 2003 Ford Taurus?
I have a 1996 Ford Taurus, I just put a new battery in about 2 months ago, at night my headlights usually go dim, also sometimes when I park after I shift the car into either park or reverse my rpm’s shoot up real high and stay there and the car makes a loud reving sound and gets hot very quick. If I shift into park the car jerks really hard. Anybody know what this could be?
ok i just changed the water pump on my 1997 ford taurus the water pump impellers were completely rusted away and we filled the system with water so we could flush everything out of the system and we cant seem to find a bleeder screw anywhere on the engine also there is no way to fit up the radiator seperatly we have to dump everything in the coolant recovery tank we jacked up the front of the car and started it but we are still afraid of air bubbles in the system.
just wondering how to clean the maf sensor on 2000 ford taurus dohc v6. is this something i could do myself or would have to take to a mechanic. also what cleaner do you use to clean it and also how do you clean the egr valve. thanks for the help
I have a 1989 Ford Taurus GL with a 3.0L Vulcan. I was planning on getting a gauge cluster that had the additional tach in it, like ones from the LX model of my car, or the sister of the Taurus, the Sable. But, I have heard that if I was to put this gauge cluster in with a tach, that it wouldn’t work, since I only have a speedometer, gas gauge, and temp gauge, and then a few idiot lights. I don’t know if they meant the whole cluster wont work, or just the tach. Is this true?
Another question I have is I found a cluster that’s a perfect match for my car. But, the cluster I want has just below 81’000 miles on it, and my car has just over 92’000 miles on it. I remember watching Matilda and the dad hooked up a drill to the odometer and it spun backwards, the mileage of the car. Is that something I can do, only go forward with this gauge cluster? I have also heard that if I somehow find a way to change the mileage, that the numbers will separate, making it look like I tampered with it. I don’t plan on selling my car any time soon, and if I did, i guess it wouldn’t be that important if the numbers were separated, but then again I don’t wouldn’t want anything getting in the way if there comes a time where I have to sell it. So, is there a way to change the mileage on the odometer, without taking it apart, and without making the numbers separate, and possibly use a drill to make the mileage go up? Please tell me all possible ways, thank you.
My remote unlock on my Ford Taurus stopped working so I tried to replace the battery twice with brand new battery and it still doesn’t work. How else can I troubleshoot this to see why my remote doesn’t work.
I’ve been going to a couple sites to check out their new cars and have built/customized a couple on the sites. I narrowed down the top couple that I like, but now, I’m having the hardest time choosing! I need some opinions (not biased because of make please). I’m thinking of getting either a 2012 – 2013 Ford Fusion, 2012 – 2013 Ford Taurus, 2012 – 2013 Ford Mustang, 2012 – 2013 Scion TC, 2012 – 2013 Mitsubishi Galant 2012 – 2013 Mitsubishi Eclipse, 2012 – 2013 Dodge Challenger. They all have things that I like about them. And If you could, give me some more ideas on other makes & models? (No Chevys, Kias, or Hondas please)
I was setting at a red light and went to go, nothing, i thought I was in neutral. I checked ever gear and nothing. Transmission shop told me it needed rebuilt. The transmission never slipped at all before it went out. I have been told this is a problem with the Ford Taurus transmissions. If it is, I am not going to fix it. Your thought please.
I have a 1987 ford taurus and my computer is fried I think…..Its behind my dash some where around the glovebox right? Any tips would be very apreciated.
I need to drain the antifreeze from a 1993 ford taurus 3.8L v6
The climate control in my 1995 Ford Taurus SHO is not working properly. It is either HOT or COLD, sometimes if I have it set at 90* it blows cold air, and set at 60* it blows out hot air, but either way it is just hot or cold, I can never get it to blow out warm air. It also makes a "flapping" noise. Any body have any ideas of how to fix it? Is it a vacuum problem, or the flap for the fresh air intake?
I have everything hooked up and ready to go, but i need to figure out an easy spot to ground the amplifier. my amp is towards the back of the trunk (behind the seats) so any spot in that area will work. i have a 2001 ford taurus sel 4 door sedan.
I have a 1989 Ford Taurus with the standard gauge cluster that just has the gas gauge, temp gauge( as far as gauges) and the speedometer, and a few idiot lights. I wanted to get one with a tach, but I have a dillema. I don’t know if its ok to use a Sable cluster since I think all of them had the gauge cluster with the tach, another dillema is I don’t know if i I have to use a specific 1989 cluster, and then if I have to use a 1989 Taurus cluster. I would love to be able to use a 1989 Sable cluster, or a 1986-1995 cluster. I have found a 1994 mercury Sale cluster on ebay for .99 bucks. I don’t know if it will be work in my car and I dont wan to buy it and then take my car half way apart then realize it doesnt work. So, will any 1986-1995 Taurus or Sabe cluser work? Or do I have to get a specific 1989 Model year whether its Taurus or Sable cluster? Or does it have to 1989 Taurus only cluster?
If you have ever looked at the gauge cluster out of this year range of car like on ebay or something, my 1989 has the same pysical shape of up to a 1995 gague cluster. And I am looking for the mechanical cluster, with actual needles. I don’t want the eletronic one. I don’t even think it would work with my car anyway.
My MIL has an 09 Ford Taurus Limited (which I believe she paid WAY too much for) is having a problem with its back door. If it rains and you open the door after the raining has stopped, water will come gushing out the bottom. It looks like it is almost a liter full (but not sure). It’s quite a bit of water to be coming from the door. She hasn’t done anything about it, but I am curious to see who should be the one to have to solve the problem. Is she suppose to take it back to the dealership and let them look at it (its still under warrenty, but I don’t know what is covered by Ford or the dealership). Or should she have a mechanic, or body man, take a look at it? All of the electrical components work fine in the door. I believe if you pay over ,000 for a car, it shouldn’t have problems like this. P.S.- No water is getting inside the cabin, just inside the door, which makes me believe is is going through the window down into the door.
They paid ,000 for the car. My opinion is if the car is more than -30k, then it should be better quality and not run into a problem like this so soon. I would more expect this problem out of a ,000 lower-end car. But that’s just my personal opinion.
I have a black, great condition ford taurus but yesterday the transmission failed. Its in the shop now and Im trying to decide what I want to do. To rebuild is ,500 or less, but over 2K. I kelly blue booked the car and its retail value is between 2K-3K. Im kind of wondering if I should consider buying an all new car.
Do you think its worth putting a new transmission in a car that isn’t worth that much?
Thanks
my mom is eyeing a 1999 Ford Taurus SE with 172k miles on it. when she test drove it, the power steering seemed a bit stiff. is this normal for this car? if not is it a major or minor fix?
I have a 1997 Ford Taurus that when I press the switch the windows will not move. All four window will not work. When I press the driver side window switch there is a little ticking sound. I’m wondering if its the motor and if it is where is it located?
I’ve been car shopping for some time now and need a full size family car or wagon with a good engine and AWD. The three makes and models of car that I am looking at are:
2011 Ford Taurus SEL AWD: http://www.ford.com/cars/taurus/trim/?trim=sel
2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R: http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/outback/index.html
2011 Subaru Legacy 3.6R: http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/legacy/index.html
I would be happy with any of them, and consider that all are about the same price with the same features. I currently own a Ford (2003 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor), but have leased two Subarus in the past (2001 Outback wagon and 2005 Impreza WRX). The main arguments are:
1. All wheel drive system (Subaru is better);
2. Trunk space (Taurus is better)
3. Interior space (Subaru is better), I’m 6’2" 255 ![]()
4. Features (Taurus is better)
5. Engine (Taurus is better a little bit, but Subaru not far off, so draw here)
6. Buying American (Taurus is better)
7. Reliability (Subaru is better).
Alright, so for you folks, with no consideration for American vs. import, what would you get and why?
my Ford Taurus has a busted tranny.. and they both are just parked there so I thought i might put the engine in my 97′ Ford ranger. The other thing is, the original engine that is in the Ranger is only 3.0L. but they are both 6 cyl. anybody with the know how please answer this.
I have a 1989 Ford Taurus GL with a 3.0L Vulcan. Within the next couple of years, I really wanted to be able to buy a new or used 1993-1995 Ford Taurus SHO Engine and AUTO transmission. I also planned on getting the bucket seats, center console, 140 MPH Speedometer, and the SHO horn plastic cover. Im still undecided about the trim around the outside of the car, well to be honest, I dont think I could find it.
I was wondering if I could swap out the engine and transmission with one from an SHO without any problems. Oh, and I also planned on getting the ABS computer so my brakes will be able to stop me, along with discs in the back. But I didnt know if I would run into any problems. I think that the computer port should fit into the computer port I have in my car now, but I dont know if it will be compatible.
If this isnt possible, I might just buy a 1989 Ford Taurus SHO, and convert it to an AUTO. I like the way the 1992-1995 look, but the trunk liftover is REDICULOUS and it feels very strange inside the car. We have a GL in my Autoshop at my school.
