I have a 1989 Ford Taurus GL 3.0L Vulcan, so about 140 Horsepower brand new and 160 Torque. It has 92’500 miles on it, and climbing since its my car I drive to high school, and all around town. I recently did a tune up on it. I changed the spark plugs, to platinum ones, good for 75’000 miles. New Rotor, fuel filter, I cleaned the air filter, a KNN one by the way, and ran fuel injector cleaner in it in mid August or 2009. I put Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner in it always. I also, around mid October of 2009, disabled the fuel system, and had help from my auto shop teacher to hook up a can of injector cleaner to the car, so that’s all the car ran on. I recently, about 3 weeks ago, put another thing of lucas fuel injector cleaner in the car. What I do is I put the cleaner in, at the gas station, right before I fill the tank, completely. I did the mileage, and I had got around 14 MPG. 50 miles of that was on the freeway, 70 MPH. Not very much was from warming up, and the rest was in town mileage. My sister did some driving, and yes shes a bit hard on the pedal, but nothing way out of whack, uses the pedal a bit more than me and she only drove it for maybe 20 miles, out of the total 145.1 that I got on this tank. The rest I did. I wouldn’t say I drive like a granny, but I don’t drive like a bad out of hell either. I could learn to take off from stops a bit easier, but I just drive the car the way it should be I think. Is there anything else I can do to increase my mileage?
Ok wich direction does a 1998 ford taurus tension belt turn I need to know soon my friends are stuck on the side of the road ?!?!?!
I have a ’96 Ford Taurus and it has developed a slow radiator leak. It drips in small, but noticeable amounts. Is it possible it is just a loose hose or the pump?

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus V6. I want to put a muffler on it to make it loud and aggressive sounding. What muffler should I put on there without breaking the bank? I am open from mufflers like ones you would put on a mustang or ones you would put on a ricer.

Whats wrong with Ford
I just bought a 1987 Ford Taurus LX as a project car, to run to work and back and to work on as a hobbie. I love this car, everything works great.. except the radio. For some reason, when you turn the radio on there is no sound coming out of the speakers, but you can hear the ‘click’ from the speakers when you turn on the radio. It doesn’t get FM at all, but VERY RARELY you will here a faint voice or two from a random AM station, but it only lasts a second or two. The radio is the original AM/FM/Casset player the car came with in 87′, when you move the ‘bass’ ‘trebble’ ‘fade’ etc, you can here static coming out of the speakers.. but no sound.
Before I rip this baby out, I want opinions of what it could be. Anything helps, thanks!

I have a 98 ford taurus with a bad trans and have opportunity to buy a 98 taurus with a good trans, mine is 3.0 liter ohv engine with column shift, the one im wanting to swap with is a dohc engine with floor shift, are the transmissions compatible?
I have a 01′ ford taurus and it is idling and running really rough.we have replaced the spark plugs thinking that’s what it was but it didn’t sem to help.
My 1997 Ford Taurus is VERY loud, i was told by a mechanic that it needs a new catalytic converter and pipe. how much would it cost me to to purchase a new converter and pay for labor? the car runs and drives fine by the way, its just very loud and smells of exhaust
What is the bolt pattern for a 2000 ford taurus se .. ?
How many Motor Mounts are on a 1995 Ford Taurus SE?
My 1989 Ford Taurus is very strange at times. The tempurature gauge is moves around alot. It usually warms up, and the gauge is about half way, then drops to about 1/3. Then does that over and over. On the freeway it doesn’t do that. It stays between 1/3 and half, but a tad bit closer to half way. Sometimes when I drive and we were looking at christmas lights, it was completely warmed up and then when we slowed down to a crawl it heated up and the gauge went up to 3/4 of the way. But after a while, and when I start driving it goes down. My dads 1995 Ford Ranger with the 2.3L I4 doesnt do that, or my moms 2003 Honda Accord EX. Yes, they are newer than my car, but I wouldn’t think that would matter. I changed the radiator cap, changed the fluid, the radiator is only about 10ish years old, give or take a few. It has a new thermostat too. I dont know if the water pump has been changed, but I think it has, but it would have been over 10 years ago. The tempurature sending unit has been replaced, the one that makes the temp gauge work, and another sensor on the engine block. Please help. Its going to be until the 4th of January until I can talk to my Autoshop teacher, but I guess that doesnt matter. I can’t do anything to it without his help and the shops tools.
The fan DOES turn on. I feel hot air being blown at my face occasionally when I open the hood.
I’ve seen and heard something rather similar to this on a Ford Taurus [but that car probably had a V6, unless a higher performance engine was installed in that car.] It seems pretty cool, and I always imagine what having that kind of sound on my car would be like, but at the same time, I’m a little iffy about it in terms of the warranty being voided, and that it might be bad for the car. I’m *pretty* sure the warranty will be voided, but would it be bad for the car? And is it bad for that Ford Taurus?
What other problems are there with this that I probably missed?
There is a lot to this story but to make a long story short. I recently moved in with my boyfriend of 5 years into our own apartment. Shortly after I decided to lease a car. I should have made this decision more responisibly. Now I am stressing out so much because I have all these bills coming at me. By any chance does someone know if I can trade the car for something cheaper? Right now I would like to just give the car back and not have to worry about all of this. I leased this 2012 Ford Taurus on 09/5/11. Am I in time to do something or is it way too late?? Please help me ![]()
just purchased xenon H I D lights and I wanted to know if it would require me to purchase HID Canceller Capacitor for my 2005 ford taurus
