It’s time for a tune up and I was just wondering how to change the coolant in a 2001 Taurus.
Thanks!
i just learned that there’s a difference between flushing it and changing it….i want to flush it…..how do i do that?

I keep the car running by adding water and coolant, but oftentimes the plastic tank becomes full. The car (1989 Ford Taurus GL) is beginning to have a knocking sound on the passenger side. There is some kind of fluid (condensed water maybe?) coming not from the tailpipe, but somewhere before it gets to that point. Could the problem be the thermostat? I want to know how I can fix the problem myself. Help!

The leak started yesterday. I cannot see exactly where the leak is coming from however the coolant is running down right beside the water pump. I just cannot see where it is.

I have been driving with water only for awhile , now all of a sudden my car is over heating and I had to pull over to let it cool down Does this mean my thermostat may have gone bad or should I just put coolant in the radiator ??

I was driving my 93 ford taurus just the other day when I had to stop to pick someone up, the car started fine when I went to pick this person up but in the 3 minutes it was off I couldn’t get it to start again.

I added some coolant as it was very close to empty, and tried to jump start it, even with the jump start the car wouldn’t even make a noise, absolutely nothing, no clicking no reving of the engine nothing.

At first I thought the battery must be very dead, but the car lights and radio work when I turn the ignition so it can’t be that can it? Also I bought the car about 6 months ago and I have no idea how old the battery is, it looks empty on water.

Does anyone have any idea what may be the problem? I’m thinking it’s the starter but I don’t know how it could blow with no warning or anything.

The car hasn’t run for 2 years now (not by our [my finace and I] choosing, my parents own it now and they don’t make good decisions). When we owned it in Flagstaff, AZ it would overheat whenever we went slower than 15 miles an hour or were stopped for an extended period of time. We would put coolant and water in the radiator and wait for it to cool. We had the thermostat changed, but the problem still occurred. We eventually determined that the fan was out, because we could drive long distances with no problem. We dealt for a while, and then gave it to my parents, in Phoenix. One day my mom was driving it and it overheated more often than usual. The last time it overheated, water came out the tail pipe. After that it never started again.

I will take it to a mechanic if it is plausible that the problem is fixable for less than the cost of the car. Any help or opinions please?
