Buying a new car isn’t an option! My husband already changed the spark plugs and wires. I know it’s not the gas because it’s been going on for a while and I have used premium grade gas and gas treatment. Check engine light is NOT on. It sputters when idle or when I am driving slow, not as much when I am at 55mph. Please help!

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus with a check engine light. I am going on a trip from Madison, Wisconsin to Bloomington , Minnesota. Took it to go see what was the light on for, and it came up with code 1414 (po 1414), which means it is something to do with the electric air pump. How much would it take to repair it, or will I be able to make it to and back from Minnesota?

Also the gas mileage has dropped to about 20 mpg and before it was getting around 35 mpg. The car sat for about a month because it had a flat tire so I was driving my other car, I don’t know if this could have anything to do with it. The check engine light also is on. My problem is with my car….The car wants to turn over but it won’t. The battery is strong, the alternator is good. It’s not the starter…cause it does not have a clicking sound. I already had a tuneup and an oil change.
Before it stopped it was sputtering while I was at a light then my check engine light came on and then it stalled. I tried to get a jump but that didn’t work.
So does anyone have an idea what it could be?

My car runs rough and dies out when coming to a stop. check engine light is on and a vacume leak is present just dont know how to find it in the pcv tube.
