The Taurus has been one of the best selling cars since introduced in 1986. Some people love them, others hate them. It depends a lot on their service experience. The 1993 did have a few issues with the transmission. The 3.0L was pretty good, but lacked the power for the car. The 3.8L had head gasket/head bolt issues. I would have it checked out thoroughly and find out about it’s service history if you are intending on buying one.
for what , driving around sure but i think that line has bad transmissions
Ford Taurus=garbage,I had a 1993 Ford Taurus and it was nothing but trouble, I put more money into the car then it was worth, in the end, the engine blew! never again have I or will I buy Ford again, which is awful but come on, I want a car I can depend on, like my car I have now, a 2004 Honda Accord, I love it and it has never caused me one problem.
the transmissions only last about 70,000 miles..
Personally, i think it is a piece of crap…if you really want it, be sure to check maintenance records and all of that. Because if you don’t, you may get SCREWED and end up paying more in repairs than it is actually worth.
Hunk o’ junk.
I had a ‘93 Taurus SHO automatic. The motor was a Yamaha 3.2 and was great but , the rest of the parts were not. Also SHO parts are really expensive , Ford wanted $260 for the sparkplug wires! And that was without installation. If you do get one watchout for the rear passenger side disc brake hanging up and wearing out the rotor. I’m not sure how reliable the 3.0 or 3.8 are. Good luck
