my fuel economy is going down on my 2004 Ford Taurus?
I had my transmission flushed about two months ago. Since then my car runs at higher RPM’s at 70 mph (about 2600 RPM) and my mileage is down almost three mpg.

Bad Fuel Air mixture in the cylinder. tweek the air to petrol ratio on the carb.
Check the fluid again and make sure it’s at the appropriate level! Then change your air filter!!!!!!!!! It’s probably dirty and you’re not getting the correct air to fuel mixture.
I would start with what changed in the first place. Check the transmission fluid and conditioin, it may just be low causing your problem. It is also possible that you waited way too long before getting your transmission flushed. Trans fluid is a funny thing, if you wait to long to change the fluid, 75,000 miles or more, the fluid will bond to some of the clutches within the transmsission. When you get it flushed you may do more damage than good, the clutch material that was bonded together by the fluid is now gone. Not a good thing. If that is the case try to find a friction modifier and add that to the transmission, with that and some luck you may be ok. Other than that you may be looking at a new transmission. Tranny flush has nothing to do with it.
Possible problems are bad oxygen sensors, clogged fuel filter or bad spark plugs/wires.
The transmission fluid is supposed to be checked with the engine running and warmed up, so check the fluid under those conditions. Is it too high or low?
