Is there anyone out there with a 2000 Ford Taurus that is having problems with defective paint?
We bought a 2000 Taurus brand new and 4 years later the paint started peeling on the trunk lid. I thought it was from a knick in the paint and paid 0 to have the trunk re-painted. Two years down the road, it is peeling again along with a spot on the hood. The body shop said the paint is delaminating due to a factory defect. I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there with the same problem. Ford couldn't possibly have screwed up on just one car, could they?

yea fea
noo foo
all of the ford taurus 2000 have a paint defect.
in the 80s and early 90s ford and dodge had alot of paint pealing problems the dealers were sued and forced to repaint alot of cars
This is common on a lot of cars….My bet it is silver in color…Finish and corrosion warranty usually are longer term than the usual warranty…Take the car to the dealer you purchased it from…Ask him to make an adjustment or just fix it.
He wants your business, and Ford should be paying for it.

Drop him a line.
i work at a ford dealer and have not seen this concern.
There were a lot of Fords in the late 90's that had that problem.
It had to do with the way the car was prepared (acid wash).
People don't realize how important the prep work and primer is for any paint job.
It's unfortunate but after 7 years you probably don't have much of a choice getting any restitution from Ford.
When you first had the problem you might have had better luck. Most companies give 5 years on the body and that should
include paint.
Silver as well as their rust colour had problems with pigmentation in the paint
