Is it possible to find a car stereo/cd player that will fit a 1997 ford taurus?
I currently have the original stereo that came with my car with AM/FM cassette. But the cassette player doesn’t work, so I can’t even buy one of those cd players that hook into the cassette part. Does anyone know if you can buy aftermarket cd players in those ford dashes or a "cheaper" way to do it? Thanks!

Most of these radios have controls for a CD changer. If the #1 preset button has "SHUFFLE" on it, it will control a changer. You will need a changer to mount in the console or trunk and the factory harness. Try a junk yard if you feel lucky, or EBay.

You can buy a kit that contains the cover for the dashboard to adapt the opening for your current radio for a new model. You may also need adapter cables to connect wiring. Any car stereo shop can order these or you can find them on eBay.
The least expensive method would be to buy one of those wireless transmitters that sends the output of an mp3 player to a channel on the fm band of your radio. They cost around twenty dollars and you can find them with the mp3 player accessories at most department stores.
