I need to know how to replace heater core in a 2000 Ford Taurus, single overhead valve, 3.0 liter.?

   I havent done it on a 2000 but typically the heater core and evaparator core are in the same housing. YOU DO NOT need to take off the dash. That assembly comes out from under it. Usually you can just remove the heater core thru the engine compartment but if its not set up that way you will need to remove that assembly from under the passenger side dash. So if its one piece you will have to evacuate your a/c system. If that is not something your ready to do. You can bypass your heater core by removing both heater hoses connecting them together. This will stop your leak and you can drive your car. You just wont have a heater till you fix it. The big reason heater cores go out is that old anti-freeze becomes acidic and eats aluminum. To all who read this you should replace it regularly. So you people that have the need to run 100% anti-freeze need to replace it everyyear or replace your heater cores and radiators more often.
