I have a Ford Taurus 1994 can you just put water in the radiator without coolant is this safe to do ??
I have been driving with water only for awhile , now all of a sudden my car is over heating and I had to pull over to let it cool down Does this mean my thermostat may have gone bad or should I just put coolant in the radiator ??

using water only will damage the water. coolant contain lubrication for the waterpump. causes of overheating can be a bad thermostat, clogged radiator, broken waterpump propellers, leak headgasket, warp or cracked cylinderhead, and radiator fan circuit is not working
you can aslong as it not below freezing but you can untill you can get some anti freeze.
You can as long as its not freezing or below out. You should use distilled water though because it has less crap to contaminate your car than regular water. You can get it at any grocery store. But I do recommend some antifreeze though.
i would check the thermostat. take it out put it in water and boil it. if it opensit is working if it doesnt you have to replace it.
You still need to get coolant no matter what
