I have a 1999 tarus we’re having problems removing the starter to replace it. We can’t find where the bolts are, are the accessable from under the hood or just under the car and whats involved in removing it

the starter and the bolts will be connected some where on the gearbox, your best bet is to remove from under the engine not over the top…
1st, remove the live of the battery,
2nd, remove the wiring of the starer motor,
3rd, remove bolts,
(optional, get an old battery and put 2 wires on to the motor, the live goes to the solenoid, the earth on to the housing. see if it spins and the drive arm comes out)
the to replace do the above 3 in reveres…
hope it helps/
you have to get under the car, there should be 2 bolts straight up at the back of the starter, and there may or may not be a bracket holding the front.before you start remove the – neg battery cable, from the battery and pull the cable back so it doesn’t touch the battery post. remove the battery cable off the starter then unbolt,it might have to move to the front of the car then down and if tight a lot of wiggling…………..tom
