The other posters are correct in advising that you need the special two "horseshoe" tools to insert into the four holes to remove the HVAC/audio unit assembly on your Taurus. However, in its absence you can use four suitably sized nails to insert into the four holes to use. Once all four are inserted, push the nails OUTWARD (toward the outside of the vehicle), and pull simultaneously to remove the entire assembly. Hope this helps.

Most later model Fords (94 on) need a special radio "pulling" tool, usually have to get it from a dealer unless you can find one at a local auto repair shop. I have no idea what the cost, just that I found someone who I could borrow one from. The tool goes into the 4 holes or "depressions" on the front of the radio. This releases internal "clips" that hold the radio in place, allowing you to easily pull the radio out.

Yes you are right , However you need two horse shoe looking tools to remove radio I think you can get them at Auto zone , just insert in holes and pull radio out. good luck
P.S. The part you are trying to remove is only the control the radio part is in the trunk , I don't know if an after market will adapt.
