Ford Taurus 2008 = better ranking than foreign cars?
What the heck? My mother-in-law (whose brother works in the parts department at a Ford dealership) said he told her the revamped 2008 Ford Taurus is better ranked than even Toyota/Honda. How did that happen?
Currently have a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu LS with nearly 151,000 miles — with original factory alternator. Routine maintenance is being done, and other than a couple of electronical hiccups very early on which were fixed under warranty (turn signal, false check engine light indicator), nothing has gone wrong with it yet. I commute 60 miles a day and use cruise control most of the time. But I am starting to do my research for another car.

Of course Ford is going to say their car is the best. Wait for a third party to do a review on it.
not that i know
I think Id want to see a little non-biased report on this first
Of course HE would say that…HE WORKS FOR THEM!!
consumer reports that are very foreign car friendly, have named ford and Lincoln cars/trucks tops in 7 categories on initial quality . ford have been coming a long way. Honda and Toyota have both have huge recalls on there products. millions of cars recalled.
surprised you had no issues as most of those malibus wound up needing intake manifold gaskets for coolant leaks due to design of the part.
Consumer reports and such used to automatically give good grades to imports due to their history, but with Toyota having issues, they are now testing before recommending now.
The Taurus was built off of Volvo technology and this is what's saving Ford. Yes the quality is up.. I've only worked on one so far and this was a very early model. The ones it replaced, the 500 had no issues other than with eating rear brake pads for it's first brake job…. So quality is getting better.. it's either that or close the plants
The Ford Fusion is ranked highest in quality in the category of mid-size cars. I don't know about the Taurus; it's got a brand new engine. The platform of the '08 Taurus is basically a Volvo design. The Duratec engine is a Mazda design, but the '08 Tauruses have a brand new 263hp 3.5 v6 that is a Ford engine. I imagine Ford quality went up because they know that's more important to customers than almost anything else.
