Ford Taurus 2003: when should I change the drive belt?
My Ford Taurus 2003 is approaching 60,000 miles on it. So I consulted the maintenance guide, and it does not even mention about the drive belt for 60,000 miles service. It says that I only need to inspect the "accessory drive belts" at 100,000 miles and replace at 150,000 miles. Is that true? A guy at a Ford Dealership told me that it is a must to replace at 60,000 miles or else bad things happen…
Does anyone know what I am supposed to do?

Change it. Its cheap now but can be expensive should it break on the road. 60k is the major service interval on almost all cars.
You should be getting a coolant flush, power steering flush, trans flush, change spark plugs, alignment, rotate and balance tires, cabin air filter, engine air filter, clean fuel injectors and probably several other things….
Ford's recommendation is 150,000 miles for that belt unless it has been replaced within the last 100,000 miles for some reason. Ford also recommends no transmission service for 100,000 miles also but you have to keep in mind that Ford is in the business to sell engines and transmissions.

check it every now and then for cracks if it has any cracks replace it.
