Could a transmission flush fix gears slamming?
I sometimes drive a 1987 Ford Taurus station wagon, the automatic transmission slams gears when it shifts. Could a transmission "flush" fix this, or is rebuilding it ($$$) the only way to really solve it? (not worth it because of age of car)

Maybe. It’s hard to say for sure. It may be worth a try. Contact the link I provided. They are excellent w/ trans issues. Most trans problems do not require a rebuild. It’s just that most mechanics aren’t really trans knowledgeable and to them it’s easier to replace than fix a trans. But, these folks know trans! Call em’.
Sometimes it will fix the problem if it’s not too burnt
It should at least make it better, but it really depends on what it wrong. Do the flush, and add a "stop slip" transmission fluid stabilizer, like Lucas Oil. That will give you the best results for what you want to spend.
sometimes a flush works and will give you some more time out of it, its worth a try
