i have change ed a cv on a escort mark 5 but the principle is still the same you have to take the wheel off then drop the bottom arm after that you have to take the cv boot of the joint then in side the joint theres a cir clip you need the proper pliers for this you just got to open the clip and slide the cup off then the new one slides on with the clip still in place once thats all done put the rubber boot back on clip the bottom arm back in place put whell on and job done it saves taken it to a garage
i own a repair shop, and you can go to auto zone .com they might have a good help site on it,,really what you need is a good repair manual for it ,your going to need it on some other things anyway, and your going to need some good tools to work with on this job, good luck ,hope this help,s.
It is likely cheaper to go to a local mechanic and have him replace the whole axle. Then you have warranty on axle, 2 cv joints, and the new boots. I did that with my Excort, and it was CHEAPER than replacing one cv joint. Even if it was a few bucks more it would have been well worth while. It costs nothing to ask at the shop.
