1997 ford taurus with shaking front end?
I have a 1997 ford taurus that my wife took to a mechanic last year. Her complaint was that the car was shaking badly and pulling to the right when driving. They told her that it had a bad tie rod end, bad tire, and it needed a balancing and alignment. Ok so she has it all repaired. New front right tierod end, new front right tire, and an alignment. Maybe 2 months later she took it for a state inspection (different repair shop) and they told her that the right tie rod end was bad and needed to be replaced! Oh, I almost forgot, the car started pulling and shaking again too. So she has the mechanics talk to each other and the first one agrees to re-repair the car. So they do it. Guess what happened about a month later! Started shaking and vibrating again. Does anybody have any suggestions? I was actually to the point where I thought a brake was hanging up, but just finished a break job and that did not touch it.

if you could, I would take it to a different shop and have them recheck those repairs - also, I didnt hear mention of ball joints - those can cause car shaking as well if they are going bad - least case scenario is the shocks are severly wore out and they can feel like shaking when they bounce cuz they have no shock left in them
Was this car in a bad accident before you bought it? Sounds like it the way the same thing keeps failing.
Has anybody checked the inner tie-rod ends??
My guess would be that the car needs an alignment and a brake job. But if the brake job didn’t fix the problem then it can’t be the brakes.
Take it to a Ford dealer and tell them that you want them to take a look and give you an estimate. Tell them that you want to know exactly what’s wrong and explain to them what you have been through with the other mechanics.
well the first thing that comes to my mind is that she is hitting alot of potholes when she drives but not even that would do it so maybe have someone take alook at the rim tire and also check for mud on the inner rim. it would prolly not be the problem but never know.
1. WAS THIS VEHICLE EVER IN AN ACCIDENT.
2. FIND A NEW SHOP FOR YOUR REPAIRS.
3. WHEN YOU FIND SOMEONE THAT IS TRUST WORTHY HAVE THEM CHECK THE COMPLETE FRONT END AND STOP THIS NICKLE AND DIME BS.
