What would happen to motor if water was added with malisious intent to gas tank?
We have experienced coolent mixed into the oil, and an aboundance of white smoke from exhaust system !
A head gasket problem possibly.
If water were added to gas tank how would I diagnoses this?

You are probably looking at a head gasket problem. It is common on this age Taurus, especially at higher mileage or if they heat up excessivly (climbing long grades is what we see often). If you are also using coolant/water then it is a significant leak, continuing to drive under these conditions will cause engine failure. The water/coolant rusts the rings and main bearings and prevents them from getting properly lubricated as it won’t mix with the oil.
This is not coming from the gas tank because gas should not get mixed with the oil (unless you have bad rings). However, you can remove water from your gas with a fuel line anti-freeze like Heet.
Pull your fuel filter out and see if there is water in it. It is under the car near the right rear door. My guess, however, is the head or the head gasket, because of the water in the oil. The only other way it would get there is if the car sits for long periods of time (months).
It wouldn’t run good. No smoke just run rough to not running at all.
