1988 taurus V6 3.0 liter looking for more power?
I have a 1988 ford taurus (yes, ancient.) It only has 66,000 miles on it and the mechanic told me it was in the best shape he’d ever seen a car it’s age in. It was one of my relatives and they left it to me when they went to get a new car. I LIKE this car, but I’m looking to make myself LOVE the car. I’m not a racer by any means, but I do enjoy opening up the throttle on the highway whenever possible. I’ve seen loads of turbochargers that fit on it but most are rather… Weak looking. I’m also looking for this to be more of a low key job. Not trying to attract attention to my car.
Current things COMPLETELY out of the question:
-New car
-New engine
-New transmission
-HUGE objects that make it retardedly obvious that I have a custom car
-Removing a muffler or making the car louder than most others stock cars
-Anything over 1000 dollars a piece
-Nitrous (No. Just no…)
-Anything else illegal
I only limited the price to 1000 because I wanted to see what I’d be able to do at this very moment. I can wait a little longer and get more money to pay for more expensive things for it, but this question was just to see what I could do at the moment.

You’ve effectively ruled out anything that would make any difference in performance. Unless you are willing to loosen your parameters you’re stuck with what you have.
I know that you specified no "new engine" – but the first thing that came to my mind when I read the question was to put a 3.8 engine into it.
These engines were optional in the Taurus and the difference in performance is very noticeable – and without any modifications to the 3.8L.

LeAnn is correct, there isn’t anything you can do except installing 3.8L engine.
