1988 Ford Taurus engine wont turn over?
I own a 1988 Ford Taurus Station Wagon. I believe it is a 6 cyl. Last night it was just fine starting up and everything.. this morning it wont start. Everything comes on but the engine wont turn over. What could be the potential problems?
If the battery is dead.. how am I still getting power to the the rest of the vehicle… plus we tried jumping it off.. didnt work…

There is no way it can be the battery because if everything else is turning on then it wouldn’t be the battery. It could be your starter or something internal inside of the engine. if i were you i would call your part store and explain to them what your situation is and they could assist you.
dead battery?
bad battery,it has a little juice in it but not enough to turn engine over, but enough to run lights, or teminal (s) is loose, your starter is fried, the car you tried to jump it is a four cylinder, try a v6 or v8 engine if you can. or a truck. let it on the cables for a few minutes befor you try to start it. you may need water in your battery, distilled only!
Way too many potential problems to list and not enough information. What’s the battery voltage? It’s possible that the battery has enough voltage to turn on the radio, but not turn over the engine. Other possibilities are: bad starter, bad solenoid, bad ignition switch, bad starter relay, bad connection on the battery, see where I’m going? It’s also possible, though unlikely, that the engine is seized up. Start with the battery and go from there.
Try starting it while in neutral. I have a 1997 Ford Taurus that did that same thing, but I tried it in neutral and it turn right over with no problems.
